Dear MARVEL community,

As the festive season wraps around us, we welcome you to the 8th edition of the MARVEL newsletter. As 2023 draws to a close, so does our project, culminating in a journey filled with innovation and collaborative success. In this edition, we're thrilled to unfold the latest of our significant achievements, a testament to the tireless efforts of our team and partners.

Since our last newsletter, we've been busy participating in several events. We've made our mark at the SMITHS Conference, Italy's Researchers' Night, the EBDFV 2023 and the Smart City Expo World Congress 2023. These platforms have allowed us to showcase our progress and explore potential collaborations. Our Zenodo repository is more prosperous than ever, featuring new publications and deliverables that delve into various aspects of our project and the highlight of the MARVEL standardisation White paper release. Also, our YouTube channel has been enhanced with more demos and videos that provide insights into our project.

As we reflect on our shared experiences this holiday season, we extend our heartfelt thanks to every partner and subscriber who has been a part of this remarkable journey. Although our official timeline concludes, the MARVEL project lives on. Stay tuned as we continue to foster our active community, ensuring that the connections we've made and the progress we've sparked resonate in the years to come.

This Workshop was organised by the MARVEL consortium as part of the European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) 2023 on October 26, 2023, in Valencia, Spain. It served as the final event of the MARVEL project, focused on "Empowering Smart Cities with Multimodal Extreme-Scale Data Analytics," and showcased a series of insightful presentations and discussions.
