MARVEL at Data Week 2021
Data Week 2021 was held online from the 25th to the 27th of May. Data Week is the spring gathering of the European Big Data Value and Industrial AI research and innovation community. The event was co-organised by BDVA/DAIRO and EUHubs4Data project. Three days full of interesting discussions with a large number of participating European research and innovation initiatives and projects. The event highlighted Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programme funding possibilities. MARVEL as one of the BDV PPP projects was present and has been invited to contribute to the discussion in the following workshops:
MARVEL at ‘Building the data-agile economy from the demand side: evolving business drivers and digital transformation scenarios’ workshop.
This workshop explored the forthcoming wave of digital transformation with a specific focus on AI and data-driven use cases, how they are reshaping value chains and the business priorities of stakeholders, building on the lessons learned by pilots and market intelligence. The workshop was organised within the framework of the Advanced Technologies for Industry project.
Prof. Sotiris Ioannidis (MARVEL Project Coordinator – FORTH) and Prof. Dragana Bajovic (MARVEL Scientific & Technical Manager – UNS) were invited to participate in the panel discussion and provide their view on the following topics:
- How MARVEL research will solve the technology challenges in the field of data.
- Where data-driven innovation is expected to have the biggest impact on businesses.
- The sectors data-driven innovation will have to create the greatest digital transformation and disruption in the next 5 years.
MARVEL at ‘Big Data and AI Pipelines in Big Data PPP projects from a Technology analysis and benchmarking perspective’ workshop.
This workshop was organized by the Big Data PPP project DataBench and the focus was on presenting reusable Big Data and AI Pipelines and possibly related benchmarks emerging from various Big Data PPP projects. DataBench has created an online Toolbox that already contains reusable “knowledge nuggets” from some of the projects and provides guidance for both business-oriented and technical benchmarks.
Prof. Dragana Bajovic (MARVEL Scientific & Technical Manager – UNS) was invited to present MARVEL and initial mapping of MARVEL architecture and MARVEL components on the DataBench Pipeline and Blueprint. MARVEL plans to take full advantage of the DataBench Toolbox to define the business and technical benchmarks for the evaluation of the MARVEL solution. You can see the presentation deck here and soon the recording of the session will also be available.
Would you like to watch the full sessions and explore what else happened during the Data Week 2021? All sessions will become available here. Stay tuned!
